One of the most important missions of Soccer Sisters
is to share the love of sport and to channel the countless lessons learned on the field to make soccer an inspiring vehicle for social change.
With that in mind, Soccer Sisters is challenging kids to take part in the
Play It Forward Project (#playitforwardproject).
Every day kids kick, hit, run, jump, swim and swing their way into learning about good values on fields, courts, rinks and in pools and gyms across the country. The PIFP social media campaign encourages athletes of any age to find creative ways of extending those good values into daily life by committing and sharing random acts of kindness and passing on a challenge to their friends and teammates.
So how is it done? Simply engage in a random act of kindness and ‘play it forward’ by sharing it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and tagging friends, teammates, coaches, or anyone else. We want to inspire others to do the same!
What do I do and how do I do it?
It’s easy. No good deed is too small!
The first step is to stop and think, what can I do to be kind today? It can be a something for a teammate, coach, friend, family member or even someone you don’t know. It can also be something to help your school, town or community.
Engage in the act of kindness, take a picture, and ‘play it forward’ by sharing your good deed on social media, tagging others. Be sure to use the #playitforwardproject #soccersisters hashtags – so we can make an Encyclopedia of Kindness!
Who can take part?
Anyone who is ready to see the joy and power of bringing sports lessons to life! Whether you are a kid, teenager, mom or dad, coach, or teacher – or an entire team can join the fun.
Where?
Do it at school, at practice, at a game or tournament, in town or at home. Then make sure you share it with a photo, tag your friends and use the hashtags #playitforwardproject #soccersisters so that we can get the word out to others.
When?
The campaign launches in early April and our goal is to reach 10,000 acts of kindness.
Why?
Sports are powerful. They are an incredible access point for education and social awareness. Plus, they are fun.
Because when we are kind, incredible things happen.
